Pelvic Floor Therapy typically begins with the pelvic floor. The pelvic floor is a bowl like structure of skeletal muscle, nerves, and connective tissue that connect the spine to the other regions of the pelvis. Your Pelvic Floor is integral to your daily life and serves many functions including:
- Acts as a basket to help support the urinary, digestive, and reproductive organs.
- Contract continuously to avoid leaking and relaxes when you need to use the restroom.
- Controls sexual function.
- Assists in postural support by helping stabilize the low back, pelvis, and trunk.
- Helps to pump blood and lymph fluid towards the heart to prevent pelvic congestion.
Our services include; but are not limited to, postural correction, breathing strategies, behavioral strategies, pelvic floor strengthening and re-education, surface EMG to assist with strengthening or relaxing pelvic floor musculature, and manual therapy.
